Welcome to our class! If you are reading this page because you just found out you will be in my class this year, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I love teaching fourth grade. I have been teaching at Hayes since 2005. I have been teaching with Livonia Public Schools since 1987 with a four year interruption (1999-2003) when my family lived in Singapore and then Thailand.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I majored in early childhood education with a double minor in math and language arts. I earned my Masters Degree from Oakland University with a specialization in reading and language arts. Additionally, I became certified as a Reading Recovery teacher through both Western Michigan University and Oakland University. I am a 2013 alumnus of Galileo Leadership Consortium. I continue to learn and grow as a teacher through professional workshops and reading.
I am happily married to my husband Gregg. We have three children (Maxx, Tyler , and Cole), two dogs (Logan and Snickerdoodle), tortoise (Gigantor), and bearded dragon (Goliath). My husband and sons play a lot of tennis. My daughter, Tyler, and I love riding horses. Tyler is a much more accomplished rider than I am!
I am passionate about creating a classroom where children and learners thrive. I expect everyone in our class to treat each other with kindness and respect. I promise to do all I can to support my students in the classroom and in their learning. Please let me know how I can best support your child!
